Reinette Franche is a large, roundish-oblate dessert apple with smooth greenish-yellow skin covered in brown russet, ripening to pale-yellow and sometimes red when exposed to sun. The flesh is yellowish-white, tender, crisp, and juicy with a rich, sugary, musky flavor, in use from November to April. Highly esteemed in France as a premier variety, it commands similar regard as the Ribston and Golden Pippin in England.
