A culinary apple of uncertain origin, notable for characteristic knots on branches from which roots readily emit. Large, round-conical fruit with golden-yellow skin and faint red flush, tender yellow flesh, and acid flavor; season October to November. Now rarely encountered save in old orchards, though historically confused with the similarly-named Oslin.
