A medium-sized, ribbed dessert apple with green skin marked by dull red and russet on the sunny side. The flesh is firm, crisp, and juicy with a particularly rich and vinous flavor reminiscent of Ribston Pippin. First introduced in 1848, it comes into use in November and keeps until April or May.
