Wolf River is a large, shapely apple with bright red striping and blushing on a pale yellow background, resembling Alexander but rounder and larger. The flesh is firm, tender, juicy, and subacid with a light aromatic quality. It originated in Wisconsin and has largely superseded Alexander in western states, valued for its attractive appearance and profitable fruit production.
