Oldenburg is a hardy Russian apple of good size and attractive red-striped appearance, highly esteemed for culinary use and with excellent flavor. The tree is vigorous and extremely hardy, making it valuable for northern and western regions, though the fruit is somewhat perishable. It ripens in late August through September and has become increasingly planted in home and commercial orchards since its introduction to America in 1835.
