A strikingly beautiful small apple prized for decorative use and dessert, with distinctive bright red and yellow coloring. The variety has been cultivated in France for at least three hundred years and is recognized in the New York market as one of the most desirable apples for fancy trade during the holiday season. The fruit has white, crisp, fine-grained flesh with a pleasantly aromatic, mild subacid flavor, though the tree is a slow grower and requires careful attention to disease management.
