Gloria Mundi is an exceptionally large apple suited primarily for cooking and exhibition rather than fresh eating. The flesh is coarse, moderately crisp and tender with a mild subacid flavor. The tree is large, vigorous, and long-lived, producing from October to January; while historically considered unproductive, some southeastern New York growers report it to be a profitable commercial variety.
