Hawley is a large fall apple of the Fall Pippin type, developing a handsome yellow color when mature. The flesh is soft, tender, juicy, and rich with a mild subacid flavor, making it excellent for fresh eating, though it is unsuitable for market due to light production and susceptibility to scab and core rot. Once widely distributed across New York State, it is now rarely cultivated.
