Flanders Pippin is a moderately large, flat conical culinary apple with greenish-yellow skin, brick-red flush and crimson stripes. The flesh is firm, juicy, and distinctly acid with a balsamic flavour, making it suitable for cooking. It ripens November to January and is often confused with Mere de Menage, though it is a distinct variety.
