Early Nonpareil
Malus domestica Borkh. Borkh.
Dessert
Early Nonpareil is a medium-sized, oblato-ovate dessert apple with dull yellow skin covered in brownish-grey russet. The flesh is yellowish-white, tender, crisp, and juicy with a sugary, brisk, and aromatic flavor. It is in use during October and November but becomes dry and mealy thereafter. Raised in Norfolk around 1780, this esteemed variety produces freely even in its second year and is well-adapted for dwarf and espalier training.
