A large, attractive red apple with characteristics similar to the Blue Pearmain group, though it ranks only fairly in quality. Originally from the St. Lawrence Valley in Canada, it is a hardy, vigorous, and productive tree. While suitable for commercial orchards in Canada, it is considered inferior in quality to contemporary dessert varieties like McIntosh and Tompkins King for New York cultivation.
