An early winter apple of medium size with beautiful dark red color and bluish-white bloom, highly esteemed as a dessert fruit in New England, particularly Maine and New Hampshire. It is of the Blue Pearmain type and considered one of the best of that group in quality, with tender, juicy flesh that is pleasantly aromatic and mildly subacid to nearly sweet. The tree grows slowly and is moderately productive, requiring extra care in cultivation compared to standard varieties.
