Barry is a medium to large yellow-green apple with a faint red blush, resembling the Greening type. The flesh is firm, crisp, tender, and juicy with a subacid, sprightly flavor. It originated around 1880 at Ellwanger & Barry nurseries in Rochester, New York, and was introduced commercially by the firm as a variety recommended for commercial orchards. The season is late.
