Babbitt
Malus domestica Borkh. Borkh.
Culinary
Babbitt is a large, handsome red-striped apple that ripens around the same time as Tompkins King. It is excellent for cooking but too sour for fresh eating. The tree is vigorous and productive, particularly in Michigan and the central states, though it bears shyly in Eastern New York.
