The Baldwin is a bright red winter apple, above medium to large in size with firm texture and thick skin that handles well. It offers good to very good quality with a sprightly, subacid flavor and aromatic notes. Preeminently the leading commercial variety in New York, New England, Michigan, and Northern Ohio, it is extensively used for both fresh market and export trade.
