A medium-sized dessert apple with yellowish-green to olive-green skin and russety dots, featuring firm, crisp, very juicy flesh with a rich, highly aromatic flavor. Originally from Newtown, Long Island in the USA and cultivated in Britain by 1768, it is extensively cultivated in America and extensively exported to Britain, though it does not achieve the same perfection when grown in the British climate. In season from December to April.
