Malus domestica Borkh. Borkh.
Dual Purpose
A medium to above-medium apple with light red coloring and mild, subacid flavor. Popular in the Middle West due to the tree's vigor and regular bearing rather than fruit quality, it appears good but only fairly good in taste and is subject to storage scalds. Largely limited to Illinois and adjoining states, it is not widely grown in New York.
