James Grieve
Malus domestica Borkh. Borkh.
Culinary / Dessert
James Grieve is a Scottish dual-purpose apple with aromatic, juicy flesh and a subacid-to-sweet flavour, developed in Edinburgh in 1893. Though excellent when fresh, it is a poor keeper that bruises easily and requires cold storage. The variety is susceptible to scab and canker but resistant to mildew.
