Hubbardston is an excellent commercial dessert apple originating from Hubbardston, Massachusetts. The tree is vigorous and a reliable bearer, often yielding heavy annual or biennial crops; the fruit is above medium to large, roundish ovate with attractive red color and excellent dessert flavor, though it is a somewhat uncertain keeper extending only to December in cellar storage. It ripens in October and is particularly valuable as an intermediate-season variety between early autumn and late winter apples.
