A large, roundish-ovate apple with deep red and yellow coloring, yellowish tender juicy flesh, and pleasant sub-acid flavor. It is a valuable culinary apple in use from October to February, now extensively cultivated as one of the most popular winter apples. The tree is vigorous and a good bearer, though subject to canker in moist, heavy soils.
