A small, roundish apple with rich golden skin, russety dots, and pearly specks. The flesh is yellow, firm, crisp, very juicy and sugary with a brisk, vinous, and particularly fine flavor. One of the oldest and most highly esteemed English dessert apples, in season from November to April; also excellent for cider. The tree is vigorous, does not attain great size, and is an excellent bearer.
