Catshead is a large, pale green culinary apple with a prominent ribbed structure and distinctive knobbed eye basin. The flesh is tender, juicy, and pleasantly sweet-tart with subtle perfume; it stores well from October to January and has been a staple farm apple in southern England for making dumplings and communal meals. The tree grows vigorously and becomes increasingly productive with age, though bearing is sparse when young.
