An old favorite dessert apple that was brought to Indiana in early pomological times but has never been positively identified. It features pale yellow skin with a brownish-red shade and offers firm, crisp, juicy flesh with a mild subacid and sprightly aromatic flavor. The variety succeeded better in the Middle West (Ohio to Kansas) than in New York and was catalogued by the American Pomological Society in 1858 as White Winter Pearmain.
