Wagener is a superior dessert apple with bright red coloring over pale yellow and fine texture. It has high flavor and excellent quality, suitable for both culinary and fresh eating but especially prized for the table. The fruit stores well from October through February, though it is susceptible to scalding and early drop; the tree comes into bearing young but becomes a weak grower at maturity.
