Tom Putt is a medium, round conical culinary apple raised by Rev. Tom Putt of Trent, Somerset in the late 18th century, with red-flushed skin marked by broad blotches and stripes. The flesh is crisp and acid, cooking excellently, and the variety was a great favourite in the Western counties. It remained commercially grown at the time of Bunyard's writing.
