Culinary
A very large, handsome roundish apple with bright green skin heavily streaked with deep red and russety dots. The flesh is firm, crisp, juicy, and pleasantly acid. One of the finest culinary apples for baking (in use October to May), though historically not widely cultivated. Found in Norfolk in 1794 and introduced to wider circulation by Hogg in 1847.
