Hunthouse
Malus domestica Borkh. Borkh.
Culinary
A medium-sized conical apple with greenish-yellow skin tinged red where exposed to sun, and thin brown russet veining in shade. The flesh is greenish-white, firm and tender with a brisk but rather coarse and rough acid flavor, useful for culinary purposes from December to March. The tree is notably small with pendulous shoots and extremely hardy, exceptionally productive and well-suited to exposed situations; it was discovered at Whitby, Yorkshire, where it was extensively cultivated.
