Red Canada is a red winter apple belonging to the Baldwin and Esopus Spitzenburg group. When well grown on suitable soils, it develops superior color, flavor, and quality equal to Esopus Spitzenburg; however, its quality varies significantly with soil type and season. The tree is only moderately hardy and not always a reliable cropper, requiring top-working on hardier varieties; the fruit stores well through winter, though flavor declines after midwinter.
