Red Astrachan is a beautiful early summer apple of medium size with a yellow skin largely covered in light and dark red striping and bluish bloom. The flesh is crisp, tender, juicy, and brisk subacid with aromatic notes. It is fit for culinary purposes before full ripeness and desirable for dessert when fully ripe, with a season from late July to September; the tree is a reliable moderate cropper commonly found in local markets throughout apple-growing regions.
