Carlton is a dessert apple developed at Geneva, New York in 1923 from a cross of Montgomery and Red Astrachan. It features white, tender, juicy flesh with a subacid flavor profile and ripens about a month later than its Red Astrachan parent, with harvest running from late August through October.
