A premium dessert apple of below-medium size with roundish oblate form, pale waxen yellow skin blushed bright deep red, and white crisp flesh with brisk, juicy, sugary character and rich vinous aromatic flavor. In use November to January. The tree is very hardy, prolific at maturity, and highly esteemed across Germany; first recorded in Misnia in 1561 and introduced to UK cultivation at Brompton Park Nursery in 1785.
