A beautiful small summer dessert apple with handsome crimson skin marked with darker streaks, below-medium size. The flesh is yellowish-white, firm, crisp, and very juicy with a brisk and pleasant flavor. Ripe in August; widely known in Scotland gardens and orchards, but little known in southern England.
