A culinary apple of large round-conical form with yellowish-green skin, distinct red stripes, and tender greenish-white acid flesh. Found at Berkhampstead and introduced by Messrs. Lane in 1857, it is renowned as perhaps the most reliable cropping cooking apple, with dwarf spreading growth and exceptional fertility.
