Egyptian Russet
Malus domestica Borkh. Borkh.
Dessert
A medium-sized russet apple from Southern Illinois with golden yellow skin netted and patched with russet, sometimes with a crimson or fawn cheek. Flesh is tender, juicy, and rich with a pleasant subacid flavor. An excellent keeper that stores through March, considered by some to be the finest of all russets. The tree forms an upright, symmetrical round head and is productive.
