Devonshire Quarrenden is a very valuable early summer dessert apple of rather below medium size with an oblate, angular outline. The fruit is smooth and shining, entirely covered with deep purplish red except where shaded. It has crisp, juicy white flesh tinged with green, with a rich, vinous, refreshing flavor, ripening the first week of August and lasting until the end of September. The tree is hardy, prolific, and succeeds well in almost every soil and situation throughout Great Britain.
