Malus domestica Borkh. Borkh.
Culinary
A Russian apple of little commercial value in North America. The fruit is medium-sized, roundish, with pale yellow or whitish skin and faint red streaks. The white flesh is acidic and suited for culinary purposes, ripening in August and September. Known in the region for many years, it was briefly listed by the American Pomological Society (1889–1891) but remained practically unknown in New York.
