A medium-sized cider apple with deep yellow skin streaked with red, firm crisp flesh, and high specific gravity (1079). Once celebrated in the 17th century as the premier cider apple, extensively planted by Lord Scudamore in Herefordshire, but by 1851 comparatively little cultivated, its reputation having declined since the early 18th century.
