Gladstone is a medium-sized, round conical dessert apple found near Kidderminster in 1868 by Mr. Jackson of Blakedown Nursery. With greenish-yellow skin almost covered in dark red striping, it has soft, pleasantly flavoured flesh and ripens July to August. It was extensively grown for market purposes as a valuable early season variety.
