A small, flattened apple with pale greenish-yellow skin covered extensively with dark grey russet and reddish-brown on the sun-exposed side. The flesh is greenish-white, firm, rich, and sugary with a distinctive anise or fennel flavor. An excellent dessert apple in season from November to January; the tree is a small grower but abundant bearer, requiring warm and rich soil.
