Fay's Russet
Malus domestica Borkh. Borkh.
Dessert
A russet apple of medium size with golden russet skin broken by patches of bright red on the cheek. The flesh is tender, juicy, and subacid with a sprightly character, rated very good to best in quality and a good keeper. Once a profitable market apple in New England, it is no longer considered commercially viable and has been largely abandoned by orchardists.
