Duke of Devonshire is a small to medium dessert apple raised at Holker Hall, Lancashire in 1835. The fruit is dull golden-yellow almost covered with russet, with firm pale greenish-yellow flesh and good flavour, though rather dry. It matures February to March and is noted for remarkable variegation of fruit, leaves, and wood; it makes a fine standard tree and is indispensable for late-season use.
