A medium-sized English dessert apple with creamy white flesh that is firm, crisp and juicy, with a subacid-to-sweet flavor. Developed in Barnack, Northamptonshire around 1840 and introduced in 1870, it won RHS awards including a First Class Certificate in 1909. Best picked in late September through early October and stores well through March.
