Bismarck
Malus domestica Borkh. Borkh.
Dual Purpose
Bismarck is a large, attractive red apple from New Zealand related to the Aport group. It is suitable for cooking and kitchen purposes but inferior for fresh dessert use, with flavor and quality comparable to Alexander. The tree is dwarfish, hardy, and comes into bearing young, making it productive and suitable for closer spacing than standard commercial varieties.
