Arkansas is a large, late-keeping winter apple with a deep red color and good quality. However, it is a shy bearer and not satisfactory in commercial orchards. While it keeps later than Baldwin, it is inferior in productivity and fruit quality, making it undesirable for cultivation in northern climates like New York.
