An old variety noted for exceptional keeping qualities (up to a year) and suitability for cooking and cider. The fruit is medium, oblate, with dull red skin streaked with green, rough surface with russet dots, and hard, coarse, moderately juicy flesh with mild subacid flavor. Valued in Northern New York and Canada for hardiness and late-keeping ability.
