American Apple
Malus domestica Borkh. Borkh.
Dessert
Jersey Sweet is an early autumn apple of medium size with good flavor and tender texture, suitable for both fresh eating and cooking. Although it is rich in flavor and of excellent quality for home use, it has proved unsatisfactory commercially due to its poor keeping qualities, susceptibility to scab, and inconsistent coloring. The variety is now rarely found except in old orchards and is occasionally planted only for home use.
