Winston is a yellow-green English dessert apple with red flush and stripes, developed around 1935 from Cox Orange and Worcester Pearmain. Originally named Winter King for its exceptional storage ability, it was renamed during World War II in honor of Winston Churchill. It stores well for 4–5 months in cold conditions and is harvested in mid-October for use through April.
