Redfree is a yellow apple with distinctive red striping (80–90%) introduced in 1981. The apple is a cross of Raritan and PRI 1018–101, offering firm flesh with a subacid flavor profile suitable for fresh eating. Harvest typically occurs from early to mid-August with peak use through September.
