A large, pearmain-shaped apple with greenish-yellow skin becoming deep yellow with red streaks when stored, developing a beautiful deep red or crimson colour on the sunny side. The flesh is yellowish, firm, crisp, juicy and sugary with a brisk, poignant, pleasant flavour. Suitable for both culinary use and dessert, in season from December to April; an old English cultivar recorded in Norfolk as early as 1200.
