Dessert
Medium-sized roundish apple entirely covered in thin pale yellowish-brown russet with occasional bright fiery-red cheek. Flesh is yellow, firm, juicy, and sugary with a particularly rich, mellow flavor equal to or surpassing Ribston Pippin. A first-rate dessert apple in use from October to January, sometimes keeping to March; very little known and rarely cultivated in 1851.
